Currently the production area of D.O. Tarragona, is located, mainly, in the regions of Camp de Tarragona and part of The Ribera d´Ebre.
The soil, of the Camp de Tarragona region, is mainly from the Miocene era, calcareous and light. The climate is essentially Mediterranean. The Ribera d’Ebre, is a region with soil, from the tertiary era, calcareous and stony, and with alluvium from the quaternary era. Winters are cold and summers are hot and bright.
The production of red wines will be made exclusively with the following varieties: Ull de llebre or Tempranillo, Cariñena, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sumoll, Garnacha, Syrah and Pinot Noir. White wines are very thin, balanced, aromatic and fruity, made with grapes: Macabeo, Parellada, xarel.lo, Chardonnay, Moscatel Frontignan, Moscatel de Alejandría, White Sauvignon and White Garnacha.
