Catalunya D.O. is situated in the north-est of the Iberian Peninsula between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees. DO Catalunya's gegraphic area has a Mediterranean climate, plenty with sunlight hours, with dried and template winters and regularly hot summers. Spring and autumm are usually the most rainy and unstable seasons.
DO Catalunya has 35 authorised grape varieties for winemaking. Some of Red grape varieties: Cabernet franc, Cabernet sauvignon, Garnatxa negra, Garnatxa peluda, Garnatxa roja (Garnatxa gris), Garnatxa tintorera, Merlot, Monastrell, Petit verdot, Picapoll negre, Pinot noir, Samsó (Cariñena), Sumoll, Syrah, Trepat or Ull de llebre (Tempranillo).... Some of the White grapes varioeties: Chardonnay, Chenin, Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo, Malvasía, Parellada, Sumoll Blanc, Xarel.lo......
