In Catalonia, in much of Spain, and in many places abroad, the name of Alella is identified with wine.

Possibly one of the most attractive mysteries of the Alella wines is its own existence, the product of a few small vineyards, sometimes secretive of the curious look of visitors, who for many years struggle for their survival in an admirable and unequal battle against the expansion of the urban area.
Merlot is the most cultivated grape variety, there are also important grapes such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnatxa Negra, Pinot Noir and Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo).
